Best Practices in Haul Trucks Wheel Motor Lubrication

PRESENTATION TOPIC:
This presentation proposes to review the requirements for the lubrication of wheel motors in haul trucks. There are requirements from the oil manufacturer, the wheel motor manufacturer and the truck manufacturer. We will also review a few trouble shooting items that are routinely seen in the field and how to overcome them.
OUR SPEAKER:
Gord Susinski is senior technical services advisor for Petro-Canada Lubricants, an HF Sinclair brand. More than 33 years ago, Gord graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, department of Chemistry where he specialized in chemical process operations and power engineering. Gord has been a  laboratory manager in a tribology laboratory, analyzing lubricants, fuels and coolants as well as developing quality control systems, commissioning new instrumentation and writing standard operating procedures. From there, he was recruited by a lubricant supplier to work in the field & for the last 25 years Gord has been developing his skills in the field, in product application expertise and troubleshooting in Western Canada and NWT primarily in mining – coal, oil sands, uranium & potash. Since 2014, he has been providing technical expertise and support for Petro-Canada Lubricants customers across Canada.
Gord is an STLE member and certified lubricant specialist (CLS) and has held several roles in the STLE and other professional organizations.
