Topic:
Exploring a Thrust Bearing Failure in API BB5 Pumps
Speaker: Marlin Schulz, Hydro Scotford
LOCATION: IN-PERSON PRESENTATION IN EDMONTON
PRESENTATION TOPIC:
The presentation aims to open discussion of thrust bearing failures within API BB5 pumps. It will begin with an overview of API BB5 pumps, their design specifications, and operational contexts, setting the stage to explore the critical role played by thrust bearings within these systems. Drawing upon a real-world case studies and empirical data, the presentation will outline an example wherein failure was not due to lubrication problems.
While acknowledging the significance of lubrication in pump performance, this session will adopt a balanced perspective, exploring scenarios where lubrication might be a contributing factor and instances where other variables such as load imbalances, misalignments, or material fatigue might prevail.
