Impact of Contamination on Component Life

There are the big three Contaminant Categories

Solid contaminants (e.g.: Dirt)

Liquid contaminants (e.g.: water)

Fluid viscosity (wrong choice of fluid for the environment the system is working in).

The Spring STLE evening meeting in Calgary on Monday April 23, 2018 will look at these three contaminant groupings and determine just how much impact they can have on expected component life.  It is actually very significant.  These contaminant groups generate premature wear.  This premature wear can consumes thousands and thousands of hours of good component life annually if left unchecked.  Let’s look at some examples / case studies and just see the impact.
